"A Hand UP, not a Hand Out"
"My mentor supported me and I completed my first semester of college with A's and B's. I had attempted college three other times and never finished a semester."
"My mentor literally saved my life! I was very depressed, and reaching out for support and answers. I found a mentor, hope, computer training, a job, and car to drive to work. I learned my value and worth as a person in the sight of God. I am now employed with Metro Schools and will be attending the upcoming Mentor Training with CWJC of Middle TN to assist another women like my mentor assisted me."

The mission of the Christian Women's Job Corps of Middle Tennessee is to not only provide the potential for transformation of body, mind, heart and spirit of "working poor" women, but to also provide this potential for transformation to the volunteers who serve them.
A new program has started in the Madison area to help women who may be working, but not earning enough money to support their family. The program is called the:
Christian Women's Job Corps of Middle TN, Madison Satellite.
We help women by giving them "A hand up, not a hand out."
We need your help in serving these women so they can accomplish the goals they have set for themselves. Goals may include:

· Building a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
We offer the following opportunities that will help them accomplish these things:
· GED Tutoring
· Job and Life Skill Classes

· Mentoring
· Bible Study
Volunteer Opportunities include:

If you feel that none of the volunteer opportunities are a match for you, there are still more needs that you could help us with. The following things are things that can be done or given that will not require a large time commitment.
Provide a snack for the women and their children for classes throughout the year.
Donate books in any subject that would serve as extra study material for the women studying their GED.
Volunteer to be a mock interviewer for a class period.
Bring an arts and crafts activity for the kids.
Provide a class for the children to participate in that builds from your own gifts and talents (karate, sewing, dance, music, etc).

Ministry opportunity!
The Christian Women's Job Corps of Madison meets on Monday and Thursday nights from 6pm-8:30pm to help women who are trying to break out of the poverty cycle by offering them education, job and life skills. Three of this past year's participants graduated this August. Two more are extremely close to passing their GED. The remaining 15 are well on their way to obtaining their goals as well. Lots of volunteers are needed for this ministry to teach, tutor, mentor, care for children and much more. About 25 women are on the waiting list and will have to stay there until more volunteers are available!
